Neri is a character in Children of the Whales. Although originally introduced as an Unmarked child serving the Committee of Elders, she is soon revealed to have a special connection to the Nous of the Mud Whale.

AppearanceEdit

She appears to be be a young girl with light pink hair and pink eyes, and wears a white dress.

PersonalityEdit

Neri's personality usually seems to be kind and soft-spoken. However, sometimes her personality seems to shift, and she becomes more like her sister Aíma and more knowledgeable about the Mud Whale.

Plot Edit

She is present when Lykos tells Suou about the imminent attack on the Mud Whale. Neri is also present when the Council of Elders tell Suou about their plan to sink the Mud Whale. She goes off to tell Chakuro of their plan, but in the process, a sudden shift in her personality occurs, and she gains the power to show Chakuro visions of the dead. When she snaps out of it, she tells Chakuro of their plan.

Later, once Chakuro, Lykos, and Masoo reach the Nous, she can be seen perched next to it. She stays silent as the archers, ordered by the Council of Elders, attack it. After everyone but Hakuji leaves, she sprouts wings, flies up to the side of the Nous, and referring to it as her parent, is seemingly absorbed into it.

She makes a reappearance during the second attack on the Mud Whale, where she shows Suou Liontari's past.

Later, she is seen in a vision of the Mud Whales' past shown by Aíma to Chakuro, where she is seen talking to Byakuroku.
